The City of Imperial Beach and EDCO are sponsoring a FREE paper shredding, electronic waste collection, and compost event.
Saturday, May 2, 2026
8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
South Bay Union School District Office parking lot, 601 Elm Avenue, Imperial Beach
Certified shredding trucks will be on site, and all items will be shredded ON-SITE! The event is limited to two banker boxes (10” x 12 ” x 15”) per household.
Unwanted electronics (e-waste), including TVs, computer monitors, printers, fax machines, VCRs, etc., will also be collected. However, no household hazardous waste (HHW) material will be accepted.
Free mulch and/or compost will also be available for Imperial Beach residents (based on product availability, while supplies last). This is a self-serve, self-loading, and self-haul service, so please bring your own cans/bags, gloves, and shovel. There is a limit of 3 cans/bags per vehicle. If you plan to haul your material in an open truck or trailer, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.
Goodwill will also be onsite to accept donated reusable items. Please click here for a list of items that Goodwill will not accept.
The event is for Imperial Beach residents only.
